ST Showcase The Latest Solutions For Power System


Across multiple electronic applications, the world’s leading supplier of semiconductor and integrated circuit manufacturer STMicroelectronics in Techno-Frontier 2011 (2011 Japanese electronic, mechanical parts and materials, Expo) show to the audience on an advanced power system solutions.
These solutions integrate the latest technology, STMicroelectronics and unique knowledge of the system for equipment manufacturers to achieve energy-efficient power conversion and power supply may also contribute to conservation-oriented society, so that the limited resources to achieve greater efficiency.

Solar Solutions
In the solar power generation, STMicroelectronics demonstrated SPV1020 chip, this DC – DC converter built-in maximum power point tracking algorithm (MPPT), with power optimization and conversion of double feature, which allows each chop separate MPPT solar cells set to maximize the output power of each chop battery. STMicroelectronics will demonstrate SPV1001 cooled bypass switch function, the integration of low-power MOSFET switch and precision control, and thus each costing more solar energy can be output, so SPV1001 bypass diode has the same function. In addition, ST will introduce micro-inverter solution that allows system vendors to optimize the output of each chop, batteries, to maximize power.
STMicroelectronics also demonstrates SPV1040 mobile device charger chip for mobile devices, solar batteries. And control of solar cells produce electricity more than the ordinary products of different, SPV1040 (can enhance the power generated by solar cells each chop) is a significant product; this product is equipped with MPPT function, to optimize the output of solar panels, to ensure produce the largest solar power. STMicroelectronics using a charger with solar panels to charge their cell phones to demonstrate SPV1040 the product works.
Battery Solutions
STMicroelectronics demonstrated STBC21 portable charger chip, when installed on portable electric equipment within the charger or the device itself, the chip can fully control the battery charging process. STBC21 can improve the energy efficiency of the charger, excellent battery protection features to precisely control the charging time, the status indicator, charge current and voltage. STMicroelectronics also on display with easy to use portable travel charger solution. STMicroelectronics use STBC21 presentation tools and the remaining capacity detection chip, USB detection chips and solar cells to the audience a live demonstration of these solutions.
STMicroelectronics also demonstrates STC3100 battery remaining capacity detection chip. In smart phones, tablet PCs and digital camera, STC3100 and computing devices capable of detecting the remaining battery power.
Smart Grid solutions
In power communications, smart meters are essential components of the smart grid, STMicroelectronics show home smart metering solutions. STMicroelectronics demonstrate support for smart meters and meter reading of power line communication (PLC) charging system. This application demonstrates use of a power line communication system with ST7580-chip (SoC), STPM series power measurement chip and the STM32 ARM ® Cortex-M3 ™ 32-bit microcontroller evaluation board. ST also introduced for the collection of information for each meter of highly integrated data acquisition system solutions (power data concentrator).
Through this exhibition, the audience also learned about the integration of STMicroelectronics’ high-performance motor control circuits required for all digital, analog and power measurement circuit dSPIN ™ (digital SPIN) system-on-chip and experience a new energy-efficient LED lighting solutions.
